What private home care costs
Prices depend on the hours, the level of care and the time of day. One Fraser Valley provider's 2026 guide lists private care in BC at about $35 to $60 per hour, but rates vary, so ask each provider for a written quote. Ask us for our current rates.
When you compare quotes, ask about minimum visit lengths, overnight and holiday rates, and mileage.
Public home support from Fraser Health
Fraser Health's Home and Community Care offers services including home support, day programs and overnight respite. A health professional completes an assessment. Some services are free and others require tax information. Call the Access Line at 1-855-412-2121, open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day. There can be a wait, and private care can help in the meantime.
Choices in Supports for Independent Living (CSIL)
Through CSIL, Fraser Health gives funds to eligible clients with high physical care needs so they can hire and manage their own home support workers. You or a representative must be able to manage staff and budgets.
ICBC
If care is needed because of a crash, ICBC's personal care assistance benefit may help. Expenses must be pre-approved.
WorkSafeBC
If care is needed because of a work injury, talk to your case manager. See WorkSafeBC home care.

Common questions
Does private care affect my place on the public waitlist?
Ask Fraser Health about your own case. Tell your case manager about any private care you've arranged, as it can be part of the picture when they assess needs.
Can I combine public and private care?
Yes, many families do. Private care can fill the hours or tasks public services don't cover.
