About the business

About care

- What can't your caregivers do? Where does non-medical care stop?
- How do you keep families updated?
About money
- What are your hourly rates, minimum visits and extra charges?
- Do you need a contract or notice to cancel?

Red flags
Be careful if a provider won't put prices in writing, can't explain who employs the caregiver or promises that any funder will pay before it's approved.

Common questions
Do I need a home care agency or can I hire someone directly?
Both are options. If you hire directly, you may become an employer with duties such as WorkSafeBC registration, depending on the arrangement.
