How ICBC coverage can help
Under Enhanced Care, BC residents injured in a crash may receive care and recovery benefits regardless of who was at fault. Personal care assistance can help pay for someone to help with daily tasks you can't manage because of your injuries. ICBC assesses your needs and reviews them over time as you recover.
ICBC services we offer
- Personal care assistance: washing, dressing, toileting, eating and moving around
- Homemaking support: housekeeping, laundry, groceries and meals
- Severe injury care: longer hours, overnight and 24-hour support
- Help getting to recovery appointments: rides, escorts and getting around your community
- Help when you were the family caregiver: replacement care for an adult who depends on you
How to get started
- Report your claim to ICBC if you haven't already, and get your claim number.
- Talk to your support and recovery specialist. Tell them what you can't do since the crash and ask about a needs assessment.
- Call us at 604-343-8830. We'll go over your needs and share what your specialist needs from us.
- Get approval before care starts. ICBC says personal care expenses must be pre-approved. Please confirm hours, services and dates with your specialist.
- Start care at home. We'll keep records of your visits. Direct billing to ICBC is available for authorized care.
Things worth knowing
- ICBC's guide says you can choose who helps you, including family, friends or a professional.
- Your needs have to reach a minimum level on ICBC's assessment for this benefit.
- ICBC sets monthly limits based on your injury. Current amounts are in ICBC's guide to enhanced accident benefits.
- If you want more help than ICBC approves, you can pay privately for the extra hours.

Is Right Move Home Care approved for ICBC?
Yes, we're approved for ICBC coverage. ICBC still has to authorize the care on your individual claim before services start.
Can you bill ICBC directly?
Yes, direct billing is available for care ICBC has authorized on your claim. Have your claim number ready when you call.
Does it matter who caused the crash?
ICBC says Enhanced Care benefits are available to BC residents injured in a crash regardless of who's responsible. Ask your specialist how they apply to you.
