How it fits under ICBC
ICBC's current guide to accident benefits doesn't list homemaking as a separate benefit. Tasks such as housekeeping and laundry are assessed as part of "looking after your home" under personal care assistance. Talk to your support and recovery specialist about what's included for you. ICBC's provider guide for this program excludes landscaping, gardening and home repairs from homemaking.
Getting it approved
- Tell your specialist which household tasks you can't manage since the crash.
- Ask them whether you qualify and how many hours will be approved.
- Call us to arrange a schedule that matches the approval.
Before you start
Keep a simple list of what you can't do and what family members are doing for you. It helps your specialist understand how the injury is affecting your day. We'll also keep a record of each visit.
Right Move Home Care is an independent private business and isn't part of ICBC. ICBC decides what's covered on each claim. We can't promise coverage, so confirm with your ICBC support and recovery specialist before services start.
Common questions
Will ICBC pay for my regular house cleaner?
Ask your specialist. Coverage is based on your injury-related needs and approval, not simply on existing services.
Can I get yard work covered?
ICBC's provider guide for this program excludes gardening, landscaping and home repairs from homemaking. Ask your specialist if another benefit might apply.
